December Challenge

Lee Brown from the Blog "A Day Not Wasted" posted this challenge, painyrd 12 by 16 in oil, painted a la prima in one evening.

A couple hours at the park

Sunrise on Holly Ave.

Right outside my front door we had this wonderful sunrise, reflecting on the fall leaves, but lasting only about 15 minutes, so had to finish the painting in the studio.

Spend Black Friday painting at the local Wetlands.

11 by 14 Oil on canvas. I started in sunlight, but  as the day progressed the clouds came and I finished when the first rain drops started to fall. I noticed as the sky was overcast the colors in the landscape where more pronounced, i am looking forward to my next excursion. 

Friday afternoon.

Friday was mostly overcast, I took a shot at the river, wanted to catch a few of the color left on the trees.

Went for a quick paint-out by the river, 1 hour+. 8 by 10 oil.

Daylight Savings Time

The sunset came a little too fast for me, from yellow to gorgeous purple, I guess next time I'll be ready, this was painted on Mt. David overlooking the town of Cottage Grove, about 10 Minutes from our home.

Another warm day in November

Plain Air at the Saginaw Winery, 9 by 12 oil, I wish this weather would last for a few more days, it is so enjoyable to spend a few hours outdoors.

Plain Air at the little Bike path Park

Thursday was a beautiful sunny day and I was looking for a location to paint, could not come up with any ideas, so I stopped at a Rail To Trail, bike park and found this little tree as a focal point to paint.

Riot of color

This interesting variety of colors in the trees, made me set up the easel at Bakers Bay, but after 20 minutes of painting, the rain came,  in a rather heavy way and I got out of there. Came back today to see if the leaves where still on the tree and  finished the painting.

This might have been the last warm and sunny day of this incredible warm Summer, we had 100 days of sunshine. This little painting is from a trail in the hills surrounding  Eugene.

Evening plain air

Yesterday evening I painted this little oil at the local wetlands, 9 x12 canvas-panel.

Little Church in Walker, OR

This little Church in Walker OR is about 5 minutes from my home, so today I tried to paint it plain air on a 9 by 12 panel in oil.

I spend a beautiful fall afternoon at an oak tree grove near my home, I tried to capture the essence of this stately tree.

Thursday's en Plain Air

Days are getting shorter, the shadows are moving faster, I am sure going to miss this beautiful summer we had this year. 14 by 11 oil on canvas.

Painting with Friends at Mt. Pisgah

Yvonne, George and I took advantage of a beautiful cool fall morning(feels like fall) to paint Plain Air and on the way we spotted a nice pumpkin patch, I guess I have to come back. This is a 11 by 14 oil.

Getting ready for the Roseburg Paint out

The week before the Roseburg Plain Air, I went on a little excursion to see the locations I'll be painting. Those little 8 by 10s are better in my opinion then the one I painted at the festival.

Beautiful Labor Day weather, took a couple hours to paint our Mosby Creek Covered Bridge, 8 by 10 in oil on canvas.

On the way home, saw this scene in contra light, just had to paint it.

Plain Air excursion to Rujada

Spend the afternoon at Rujada Park, about a 40 minute Drive from home, a wonderful location and the temperature was about 70F in the shade, subject was great but again could not find the right colors and values, but I won't give up.

Wonderful day at Brice Creek, overcast in the morning, but later a little sun, but I was deep in the canyon, 2+ hours of the sound of water cascading.

Painting at the Lake

I spend 5+ hours at Cottage Grove Lake painting, how lucky am I, produced a 11 by 14 oil on the creek in the woods and a 8 by 10 on the lake.
