This painting is for the CALYPSO MOON ARTIST MOVEMENT Blog challenge, Title for this month is The Secret Garden, since I don't have an enclosed sanctuary I painted the challenge from my daily walk, up Mt. David. It is the view from the top, painted in oil on a 16 by 20 canvas.
I love the depth of the clouds. In life, I think clouds are unappreciated. What's a gorgeous sunset without clouds, or a deep blue sky without the contrast of white puffy clouds? This painting, at least for me, captures the beauty of a vast scene of clouds.
ReplyDeleteI agree. It's a beautiful cloudy sky. And I like the vantage point - it's as if I am there.
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of a favorite Russian painter, Isaak Levitan. I can feel the temperature, breeze, the road beneath my feet, scent of pine a bit- all done with simplicity and without flash. That is strong painting indeed!
ReplyDeleteHorst your painting looks moody and a little forboding with those dark clouds hovering. I like it. A retired bakery owner-your family must have enjoyed the finest baked bread and pastries. You'll have to share a secret recipe for how to make delicious butter croissants someday.
